Roque de Los Muchachos
The Roque de los Muchachos is the highest point of the island of La Palma and the second in the Canary Islands. From several viewpoints we can contemplate the Caldera de Taburiente.
THE MIRADOR DEL ROQUE DE LOS MUCHACHOS IS AT THE TOP OF THE ISLAND OF LA PALMA, ONE OF THE PLACES IN THE WORLD WITH THE BEST SKY FOR ASTRONOMICAL OBSERVATION. AT YOUR FEET THERE IS AN AWESOME VIEW OF A GIANT VOLCANIC BOILER OF 1,500 METERS DEPTH COVERED BY TREES, WITH VOLCANIC ROCKS OF CAPRICHOUS FORMS AND DECLARED NATIONAL PARK.
It houses the Astrophysical Observatory of Roque de Los Muchachos (ORM), one of the most complete complexes of telescopes in the world. Thanks to its dark and clear skies for most of the year, La Palma has become one of the most privileged enclaves on the planet for astronomical observation.
